Art for your eyes & ears. basics is collaborating with Brighton Art Space to bring an immersive art exhibition & three incredible bands to the spectacular former church, Fabrica, on the 15th of November. Since starting in 2024, basics has generated a growing reputation around the city for fusing a diverse range of live music & poetry, leading to their shows appearing three times Folklore Rooms ‘staff's picks of 2024’ & receiving outstanding reviews from Rapture Magazine, Brighton Source & WeLoveBrighton. After 5 consecutive sold-out shows in intimate venues, basics is scaling up their production for a limited series of events which will each be in partnership with a local, grassroots art studio.
One of Brighton’s brightest talents, Kymara, will be headlining the first of these immersive shows alongside her phenomenal 12-piece band. This collective of incredible musicians results in an amalgamation of soulful harmonises, jazz-driven songs & captivating solos. Their captivating set has led to supporting Rag’N’Bone Man on his tour, having a 4-show residency at Casablanca’s, selling out Brighton Dome Studios & playing a variety of festivals including North Sea Jazz, Lakefest & The Great Escape. Their sound will beautifully suit the acoustics of this historic old-church.
As will the first support act, Stone Jets, a soul band centered around a truly stunning vocalist, bluesy riffs & emotive songwriting. Originally from South-Africa & France, this unique band has been astounding audiences around the world, touring Europe independently, supporting acts such as James Morrison, SugaBabes and Hugh Masekela as well as playing at festivals like Glastonbury, Underneath the Stars, Wilderness and many more.
The final act, violist Theo Warrington, is equally as suited to the acoustics of an old church. He & his bandmates fuse orchestral genres with elements of pop & folk to create a magical wall of sound. His act has been immersing audiences for the last couple of years in Brighton, Bristol & London.
Fabrica will be carefully decorated with an art exhibition brought in by Brighton Art Space, a local independent studio focussed on providing grassroots artists a cheap space to develop their creative practice. From graduate students to internationally renowned artists, this is a space that encourages, supports, and champions its members and friends.
Doors open at 7:30pm & the music will begin at 8pm.
